The Stronghold Armed Forces Community Centre
The Stronghold Armed Forces Community Centre currently operates from a temporary, adapted unit on our site. While this is an interim arrangement until the RB Project Q facility is completed, it already allows us to fully deliver the Veterans & Cancer Support element of RB Project Q – right now, not at some future date.
Temporary does not mean limited. The Stronghold is open, active, and making a difference.
How It Works
The Stronghold is built on flexibility and real-world support. Unlike many organisations, we are not restricted by rigid criteria or one-size-fits-all processes. This allows us to respond on a case-by-case basis, providing support that reflects the individual’s actual needs.
Our ethos is simple:
Assist to Self-Help … then … Seek Help.
We aim to empower people first, while ensuring that further help is available and accessible when needed.
Support, Signposting & Follow-Through
A key part of how The Stronghold operates is signposting — connecting individuals with charities, support services, and other like-minded people and organisations.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just point and step back.
We follow through, staying engaged to help ensure connections turn into meaningful outcomes.
Our Status
RB Project Q and its Veterans & Cancer Support element are not a charity.
We operate as a Social Enterprise, allowing us to remain agile, responsive, and focused on practical impact rather than bureaucracy.
Activities & Development
Our activities will grow in line with need and available funding. Initially, The Stronghold offers:
-
A regular meeting location
-
Coffee mornings
-
Breakfast clubs
As funds and partnerships develop, activities will expand accordingly.
Supporting Homeless Veterans
A core future focus is to establish a National Veterans Training Academy to support homeless veterans through practical, skills-based courses. These programmes will enable veterans to:
-
Learn transferable skills supported by industry recognised qualifications
-
Prepare for entry into a range of industries
-
Work collectively to produce components that form a complete, eco-friendly house
Veterans from anywhere in the UK will be welcome to participate.
This area of support will be delivered in partnership with external charities, ensuring best practice, safeguarding, and meaningful long-term outcomes.
